Commercial Description:
Waterloo Tripel is brewed on huge amounts of pilsener malt. Aromatic Saazer and Spalter hops are added, but to no further extent than to give it a bitterness equal to a pilsener which gives more room to the beer’s sweetness. The beer is fermented with Du Bocq’s original yeast strain which is responsible for the delicate, spicy expression. After maturation and filtration the beer has a secondary fermentation in the bottle which causes its slight cloudiness.

@ a tasting thanks Shahar, golden clear with a nice froth head, aroma of banana, apple, some acidity, cheese notes, flavors of banana, apple and some lemon, some biiterness and lots of spices towards the end, medium bodied.

Bottle at a blind tasting. Thanks Shachar! Hazy golden-yellow with a white head. Aroma full of fruity esters - apples, banana, some citrus and more. Flavor begins sweetish with some slightly bready pale malt, finishes with a slightly spicy bitterness and has refreshing fruitiness that’s there all the way to the finish. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. A bit Wit-like, but very enjoyable.

33cl bottle poured into a tulip glass. Cloudy gold with ample creamy white head. Aroma is biscuit, spice, candy sugar. Flavor is basically the same. This is your standard every day tripel. Good, but kind of boring.

Really enjoyed this one but I did have it after an absolutely horrible beer so I’m not sure if that’ll make a huge difference. Thick white head with great lacing. Body started clear blonde but then turned hazy right before my eyes. Pretty cool. Yeasty smell with pleasant lemon peel notes. Full bodied taste also with yeast, lemon, and spices. Great balance between the sweet malt and yeast against the bitter hops and spice. I might like this one better than most.

Bottled 330ml. -Slight hazy golden/yellow coloured, medium sized white head, some hints of coriander in the nose. Sweet malty, fruity and yeasty with notes of alcohol and coriander. Long-lasting spicy aftertaste. Somehow quite weak palate.

Bottled 33 cl (Bs, BB 03/2010). Slightly hazy golden color, small white head. Spicey nose has black pepper and iron plus some pear-dominated alcohol. Fruity flavor (pear, apricot), white pepper, alcohol. Long spicey aftertaste. A bit thinnish. Not much yeast in the bottle. Basic triple without any big faults; no highs - no lows that is.
