The aroma of fruits like cherries with caramel malts. The taste of sweet caramel, with fruits, some cherries, sticky and a little bitter. The aftertaste is a little bitter, but at the most sweet. To sweet. Mklein818 (165), Etterbeek, Virginia, Belgium Feb 21, 2009 When I tried this in a Maes-flagged eatery in Namur, Belgium, I was skeptical. Everyone was drinking Watneys, yet I hadn’t seen Watneys since the brand died in the UK decades ago, nor had I seen it in Belgium. I tasted it--and it tasted exactly like Grimbergen Brune, which of course comes from the Alken-Maes/S&N stable. Now, I love Grimbergen Brune, and think it could pass as a scotch ale, but this does need to be called out. yespr (11649), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jan 12, 2009 From tap at Domus. Pours dark brown with a small deep orange to amber glare and a slowly collapsing off-white head. Raisin and overripe fruity aroma from the yeast and a roasted dark caramel malt note too. Solid sweet flavoured. Vague metallic note to a rather toffee sweet dark caramel malt flavour mixed with a light fruity touch. Ends with a lasting toffee malt impression.
