Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Nov 6, 2009 Bottle. Decent offering. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Nov 1, 2009 Bottle from 2002. Pours a slightly hazy orange color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty yeasty and spicy aroma. Sweet fruity malty spicy flavor with some hints of yeast and some hints of caramel. Has a sweetish malty fruity spicy finish. rampmaster (314), Alden, New York, USA Oct 23, 2009 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 11.2oz bottle into a goblet. There is a best before date of 21-06-10 on the back label and it was sampled on 7-1-09.
Appearance: Its head is foamy white in color, thin (about one finger) and fades quickly to a very thin wispy covering with very little lacing. The body is golden tan in color and has a hazy appearance with lots of tan colored yeast sediment floating in it.
Smell: The aroma has a sweet fruity and estery nose with hints of dry earthy yeast and some very light hints of spicy/floral hops.
Taste/Mouth: It starts with fruity apple and apple wood notes, mixed with light bready malty notes that have a honey on soft white bread sweetness. The flavor starts to dry and I notice hints of dry white grape notes and dry funky yeast. This leads into the finish along with mellow spice and bitterness from the hops. Its texture is lively yet smooth with nice champagne like carbonation inside of a solid medium body.
Notes: This was a very enjoyable Tripel. I liked the mellow sweetness that slowly dried out towards the finish and the champagne like texture and grape flavor.
mike1977ok (633), Netherlands Oct 23, 2009 Peachy orange colour. Yeasty, doughy aroma. Flavour a bit spicy with a finish containing some bitter orange oil.
jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Oct 10, 2009 Great bottle label and a rich gold beer with a lasting head -- just off-white. Aromas of fir, plums and rough grains all carried by a sweet alcohol. Dense, lengthy palate. Light bitterness and tart hop acidity. The finish is a little beer-y, coarse malt and a heavier dose of alcohol. Overall, a pricey primer on the structural elements of a tripel, but they can all be tasted here -- all but the refinement of the straight St. Bernardus stuff. DKthe13 (51), Netherlands Oct 6, 2009 33cl bottle from the brewery itself. Nice goldyellow colour with a nice foamhead. Smell contains lot’s of yeast and several spices which I can’t give a name. Finish has rather a too big amount of alcohol in it. NomDeBeer (397), Maryland, USA Oct 4, 2009 Bottle erupted upon opening. Pours hazy yellow with a huge fluffy white head. Taste is spicy yeast, candy sugar, and a slight bread-like finish. Aroma is similar. Decent beer, certainly drinkable, but kind of dull and predictable. There are better tripels out there. Borresteijn (1343), Amstelveen, Netherlands Oct 1, 2009 33cl Bottle from Achelse Kluis. Hazy orange colour, dense creamy white head. Aroma of yeast, ripe stonefruits, sugar, some wheat. Flavour is sweet, malty, very fruity with pineapple, peach and pear, yeast, drying light bitter finish. Medium to fullbodied. Very nice tripel.
