Commercial Description:
The aroma of this beer is agreeably gentle and is carried by a discreet bitterness while the balance between the malt and hops relies on fruity accents and a lightly fresh aftertaste.

I don’t support the commercial description on this one as the deep aroma and intense flavours of this beer certainly denied it any subtlety. Tasted from the bottle into a chalice, cool and not cold. Poured slowly, it produced a wickedly dense, 1", steadfast, pillowy white crown that left an abundance of lace. The body of beer a pale, sunny burnished orange, slightly hazy, with small speckles of yeast flattening out on the bottom of the glass. Easily photo worthy to look at. Potent, grainy and deep, gooey toffee and cream liqueur aroma leapt from the glass with softer notes of zingy tropical fruits like guava, passionfruit and pineapple giving it a nice depth of character. Quite similar in the mouth with sweet, gooey toffee malt and treacle notes upfront phasing into tangy and juicy apricot, orange and tangerine flavours that build up in the mouth to linger long afterwards. Back end has a lightly bitter, burnt sugar and woody, herbal quality that brings this tasty number together. Finish is woody, sweet and long with hints of dried spices, pine nuts and a touch of that liqueur warmth. Full bodied for style and smooth like a well aged strong ale, its only discredit being a touch of hot alcohol that comes out as it warms. This was a lovely slow sipper, not exactly a Tripel for the summer months, but well worth it as a winter warmer. Lovely!!! (33cL, 02/05/08, Int’l Beer Shop, W. Leederville)

Bottle says 01 60 07. Poured into a St. Bernardus glass. Smells of grass. Coudy with chunky swirls. Tastes of marshmallow which turns to bitter play doh after a while. Thin with medium finish. Might improve with cellaring.

Smells a little underpar for a triple. It has a thick sticky coating at the start but becomes pretty normal for a triple. Quite nice.

Bottled. Golden beer with a dense, white head. And some floaties. Yeasty, but neutral aroma with some banana. A little too thin flavor, with fruits, especially banana. Ok, light sparkling mouthfeel. Rating: 4-4-6-3-14-3.1 (060113)

Bottle, 75cl corked. (RBNAG 07)Had to try it again, as it disappointed bit time last time I had it. Golden-yellowish body, mostly clear, with a white head. Pale malt, sweetness, fruityess, some yeast and hops in the aroma. The flavor is malty, sweet and fruity, full body. Much more satisfying than last time. (071103)

bottle. pours a hazy bright orange-brown with small yeast specks and a medium white frothy head. the aroma is full of sweet fruit and alcohol - notes of pears, banana, and oranges. mouthfeel is yeasty and lively. flavours of sweet dusty pears and bread. the finish is very spicy and has a warm, comforting alcohol presence. very good.

Bottle 75 cl. Hazy golden colour, small white head. Sweet aroma, sweet taste. Too much alcohol taste and a fizzy carbonation. Above average though.

Bottle. Hazy golden body, with a bit white head. (3+) Sweet yeasty aroma, sugary fruit and a tiny whisp of bubblegum. Flavour is dried out by the alcohol more than you would expect from the aroma. Dry bite of hops and alcohol over sweeter less prominent malt. Bit less malty than I would like, but pleasant despite a stronger alcohol presence than is warranted by the actual abv. Medium palate. Thanks for saving me one Harry!
