Diverse fruit platter aroma, with hints of nectarine and peach, honey, Belgian yeast and lightly floral hops. Well orchestrated malt and yeast character, producing a range of absolutely sensational fruit flavors. Banana, peach, nectarine...you name it, all balanced by delicious caramel and toffee malt profile, somewhat funky, yet clean yeast and lightly floral hops. I just love Belgian beers. Its amazing that something like this can be produced using only water, malt, hops and yeast. Cheers to beer. ratman197 (3220), Arvada, Colorado, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 13, 2005 Spicy and candy sugar sweet aroma. Cloudy gold color with a thick fluffy white head. Lot of gas released. Very spicy up front then it goes through a malty middle and ends with notes of fruit and candy sugar and finally a mild bitterness. Nicely done beer. unixweb (237), Sherman, Texas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 10, 2005 Interesting look in the bottle, typical of "live" beers. Lots of yeast in the bottom! The color is a pale yellowish orange, with a big foamy head which lingered pretty well. The smell is somewhat fruity, with just hint of sourness mixed in. The taste is spicier than I expected, a bit tingly on the tongue. The taste is a mixture of the good and bad: nice cherries, maybe vanilla thrown in...but there is that sourness, the ever-so-slight skunkiness. It’s an interesting mix, and I liked it, yet I didn’t. I don’t think this is a tripel, to be honest, but what do I know? The taste is above average, it’s nice and warming too! If you like Belgians, try this one! Nagash (202), Paris, France

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 5, 2005 I like this ale, but I’d wager that, had St. Bernardus (the brewery, not the saint) not labelled this as a tripel, it probably would have been listed as a "Belgian Ale." (I enjoy meaningless bets like that. They did call it a tripel, and there’s no way to go back and see how we’d all react if they hadn’t.) It’s a light, fruity golden colored ale with a frothy white head. The flavor is yeasty with cherries and other light fruits. Alcohol does make a brief appearance in a warm, fruity finish.
