maeib (3917), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Feb 19, 2006 Bottled. A reddy brown coloured beer with a nice off white head. The aroma is massive; meaty and fruity. Thick and nose filling. Some burnt chocolate notes in there amidst the woodiness. The taste is absolutely gorgeous. Thick moussey fruits. Wood and chocolate. Exceptionally long finish. Big malty flavours with fruity hops balance in perfect harmony. I wouldn’t class this as a tripel but I would class it as World Class as a beer. Jerre (1333), Waregem, Belgium Sep 4, 2006 Deep orange in colour with a large cream coloured head. Aroma was of yeast, oranges, spices and some lemon. Flavour was of yeast up front, citrus, black pepper. Medium creamy body, high carbonation. Finishes spicy and long. Nice tripel. cmr1517 (35), New Haven, Indiana, USA Jul 20, 2007 I hardly rate any beer any more but this one was pretty damn good. I love the smell and the taste. Thats all RblWthACoz (959), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 15, 2007 Pours a cloudy gold with a off white head that starts falling fast. Decent lacing on the way down too. Nose is sweet and a bit yeasty. Typical stuff, but just right I think. Flavor is great. Slight sweetness with a spice that bites the tip of your tongue. The sweetness stays mild and is only joined by a yeasty influence, and never overshadowed. Really a smooth mix of brewing mastery I think. A lot of carbonation on the feel. It might border on being a bit much, but I think it still feels nice on the tongue. Masterfully created and continually drinkable. An amazing brew that is taking the position of one of my favorite tripels. More old school, with nothing schnazzy or wild about it, it’s a smooth and even production and another St. Bernardus piece of art. elektrogeist (157), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Feb 10, 2006 Now this is a damn good beer.. found at Lee’s Liquor in town and picked it up because it was a Belgian I hadn’t yet tried. Immediate aroma from the bottle of a perfectly brewed Belgain ale. Poured with a creamy permanent head, pale golden color. Maybe not strong enough to be called a tripel, but the flavor definitely hits the mark-not too aggressive but just right. If you have the means, definitely give this a whirl.
