A medium bodied, dark German lager style beer. Clean lager character with an aftertaste that tends to dry out slowly and linger, featuring hop bitterness with a complementary but subtle roastiness in the background. ABV 4.6% IBU’s 27 SRM 22.62

Bottle, probably brewed under license in Germany Citric yeast and sour roast aroma. Very dark brown, nice creamy brown head. Light roast, but otherwise cardboardy malt. Also sports a lingering citric note. Very lightbodied and finishes on a watery note. The citric fruitiness is confusing, either they use a very funky lager yeast or it is top fermented.

Appears cola brown at first, but is actually deep smoky red. Scattered wispy foam on the surface. Nose is pure diacetyl butterscotch and candy corn and, just maybe, a single chocolate chip. Flavor is notably absent. Tastes buttery and... what? Coffee? Licking and empty candy bar wrapper? Hard to tell, but I thinks it’s oxidized- there’s an element of stale yellow-paged old paperback books. Uncarbonated; palate is like a flat soft drink. Dry finish with mere molecules of cream soda aftertaste. I’m confused and astounded by this beer’s utter lack of character.

Bottle: Attractive rich brown. Velvety aroma of toasted chocolate malt. Taste of the same chocolate malt with a touch of hops in the finish to keep it clean. The only downside is it is a little thin.

Poured a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is malty and roasted. Flavor continues with the roasty malts. Clean finish. Medium body.

Tap at Split rock ’04. Brown with a tan head, clear. Slight chocolate aroma and clean. Malty clean flavor of Munich and chocolate malts. Decent.

Ruby when held to a light w. a cinnamon sugar head. Aroma is chocolaty, smokey sweet and roasty. Dark malt is very up front in the flavor - smoky and sweet. Maybe a bit too much sweetness

Deep amber. Not opaque more like dense. Glowing orange in the light. Off white head that quickly dissipates. Nose is chalky. Mostly anise and a slight roastiness not a whole lot going on there, maybe slightly sweet. Flavors are pleasing. Toffee, anise excellently roasted. Toasty to say the least. However all in all this is weak, nothing too persistent or glowing about this one. G-rat

Deeper brown color, tan head. Malty, some molasses, possibly a hop or two. Light to medium body works well with it. Not bad.
