Bottle. Very dark brown with almost zero head. I poured it as hard as I could to try to fake a head, but it just wasn’t happening. Absolutely no lacing. Smells of coffee and sourdough. Flavors of bitter coffee, toffee, and yeast. FInishes really sour with a sourness that sticks around long after the beer is gone. I wanted to like this, as I’m glad to be able to get WR beers around here now, but this one wasn’t very impressive.

Dark brown to garnett pour. with a frothy tan head and some spotty lace. Caramel malts on the nose. Roast, chocolate, and malts. Acidic on the finish

16.9 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a small head. Aroma is caramel malts and slight notes of chocolate I detected. Flavor is roasted, with coca and malts. Overall I thought this was a relatively superb beverage and I’m quite glad one of my co-workers picked this up for me.

16.9 oz. bottle from Wine Warehouse. Dark brown pour with a very thin head. Overpowering caramel aroma with some grain and mocha notes. Taste is earthy with fruity esters, caramel and bitter coffee. Finish is a bit acrid and the body is a bit thin. A rollercoaster of a beer.

Sorry guys, I confess up front that I am completely irrational when it comes to my "weeper". Favorite beer of all times. Dark and tasty. Roasty flavor, makes you warm and happy. Great to have a liter at the brewery and then take a bottle or two back to the beach house, drink it up and pass out on the beach.

Pours a dark brown with garnet highlights and fair brown dissapating head. Smells of cocoa and earthy notes. Tastes vegetal. Cocoa and roasted malt follow. Medium body with a decent finish. Fair

1/2 L brown bottle from the brewery. Dark clear deep mahogony with a fine tan head that collapsed rapidly. Aroma of roast, carmelized malts and a bit of nobel hops. Roast and carmel malts dominate flavor with a touch of hop bitterness. Light mouthfeel with low carbonation. Finish is light and dry with a touch of lingering bitterness and grainey notes. Quaffable. A very nice example of a schwarzbier. There seems to be a bit of variability between batches. An earlier tasting was a bit of a disappointment for one of my favorite beers, but this bottlle was right on.

On tap at the brewpub. This is a schwarzbeir. Nice roasty nose and flavor, but not too much. Just enough to give it character. Medium body with a nice amount of carbonation. Very nice.
