Weeping Radish Black Radish Dark Lager

Pours a dark mahagony with a nutty earthy nose. Flavor is lightly sweet with a nice roasty aspect. Balance is malt forward with little detectable hops. Slight tartness at the end of each swallow leaves you yearning for another sip. Very nice!

Oct. 2005 - Beer poured dark, dark brown with smallish head. Flavor was half lager, half stout...difficult to describle...malty maybe a little nutty, definite coffee roastedness. Enjoyable. Don’t cry, little radish!

This pours out a brown and murky color with a very thin head, before tasting the thing it looks watered down. Aroma is sweet and interesting because it has a weird twang all around. Now I will admit that dunkels are not my favorite style but to me this is not a dunkel at all. Taste is slightly roasty and nutty (although weak) almost like a really crappy porter or "imperial" brown ale if that is possible. What gets me though is the off flavor detected in the nose is still there when you take a sip, even more so. I haven’t tasted this before, it’s almost like a burnt taste mixed with some sort of cleaning agent. Honestly the watered down palate and truckload of off flavors in this beer reminded me of a homebrew gone wrong. Sorry Weeping Raddish, this shit sucks. My first drain pour in a long time. Its a shame too because this brewpub is in North Carolina and I would love to support my regional stuff but this is impossible. I’m gonna go on record with the lowest score for this beer to date.

Bottle - Very dark brown to black color with a big tan head. Nutty, coffee, yeasty aroma. Toasted malt flavor with chocolate, coffee flavor. Bitter finish. I agree with others that the coffee and chocolate flavors are more similar in style to a Porter.

Pours a deep brown with a thin light khaki head and no lacing. Mild coffee and chocolate aroma. Roasted malt dominant flavor with coffee, bittersweet chocolate and small hint of spice. Watery mouthfeel and a crisp finish.

Nutty, dark and coffee-roasty, all in one. Delightful for the coffee dunkel crowd. Chocolate malt aplenty.

A deep brownish red beer with a thin bubbly brown head. The aroma is roasted and chocolaty malty. The flavor is very sweet malty with notes of brown sugar, metal, and nuts. But the body is a bit thin.
