| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Jan 25, 2006 Schwarzbier originated in Eastern Germany, and you won’t find too many examples of this beer being produced, even in its native Germany. So it truly is a wonderful thing for a beer lover, to have access to a few domestic, as well as imported examples of this style. This is a delicious, sweet malty, toasty, nutty, dark lager, with just a touch of roast, and a wonderfully clean body.
Black Radish Dark Lager pours to a deep ebony color with a creamy tan head, and a moderate amount of carbonation. When held to the light, this beer is really a beautiful, bright, deep brown color. The nose on this beer is just wonderful, with big aromas of sweet malt, toast, nuts, and just a slight touch of roast. The palate is firm with good dark malt flavors. Flavors of sweet malt, toast, nuts, touches of dark chocolate, slight hints of smoke and roast, coat the tongue. The body on this beer is so smooth and round, making this beer just so drinkable. Black Radish finishes with more dark malt character up front, and ends with a slighty sweet and roasty finish.
