Sorry guys, I confess up front that I am completely irrational when it comes to my "weeper". Favorite beer of all times. Dark and tasty. Roasty flavor, makes you warm and happy. Great to have a liter at the brewery and then take a bottle or two back to the beach house, drink it up and pass out on the beach.

Schwarzbier originated in Eastern Germany, and you won’t find too many examples of this beer being produced, even in its native Germany. So it truly is a wonderful thing for a beer lover, to have access to a few domestic, as well as imported examples of this style. This is a delicious, sweet malty, toasty, nutty, dark lager, with just a touch of roast, and a wonderfully clean body. Black Radish Dark Lager pours to a deep ebony color with a creamy tan head, and a moderate amount of carbonation. When held to the light, this beer is really a beautiful, bright, deep brown color. The nose on this beer is just wonderful, with big aromas of sweet malt, toast, nuts, and just a slight touch of roast. The palate is firm with good dark malt flavors. Flavors of sweet malt, toast, nuts, touches of dark chocolate, slight hints of smoke and roast, coat the tongue. The body on this beer is so smooth and round, making this beer just so drinkable. Black Radish finishes with more dark malt character up front, and ends with a slighty sweet and roasty finish.

draft rating Wow! I didn’t expect this to be so SMOOTH. This has to be the best dark lager I have ever encountered! Delicate yet creamy mouthfeel, and superb mildly roasty flavoring. Not too heavy. I felt I could have drank this until I blacked out. Fine in every aspect. This is a must-try. Outstanding.

Nice tasting lager. The thing that really stands out is its mellow maltiness and the hints of brown sugary sweetness. A winner!

Some things of note: 1st, this is closer to a schwarzbier than a dunkel; 2nd, my label is different than the one on this page; and finally, my bottle said brewed in Baltimore, Maryland..contract brewer? On to the beer...Reddish/brown hue with a small tan head, fair lacing. Medium-bodied. Heavy malty aroma of roasted malts, molasses, dark chocolate, and espresso. Other hints on the nose were blackberry and smoke, slightly vinous. Malty initial taste, but balanced out well on the finish, light alcohol feel. Oily texture and lively carbonation. Despite the discrepencies, this was a great find, loved it. Will seek out agian.

Weird aroma. Nice hoppy flavor. Smooth feel and good finish. A well made dark lager.

I'd agree that this is a schwarzbier, rather than a dunkel. Quite nicely roasty; dry, nutty maltiness. Bitterness from roast as well as the subdued hops, which is something that I like in a dark lager. Dark brown, medium bodied, with a light tan head.
