| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 13, 2003 Hazy, dark amber lager with a copper tint. Small, creamy, khaki-colored head with great retention.
The aroma is fruity and sweet. Maple syrup, toffee and red apple.
Very malty, rich and buttery flavor with some light notes of fuzzy fruit. Well-balanced regarding malt versus hops.
Medium-bodied with a fizzy mouthfeel. Short, astringent, dry finish. Reminiscent of some of the better Scottish ales I've tasted. pjk33 (384), Sligo - Curllsville Heights, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 11, 2003 I have had this beer on tap, in bottles, and in the takeaway fresh kegs and really like it. It is not a heavy beer, but is refreshing with a nice creamy head and good bite. You can drink a lot which is good at the beach. BBB63 (4232), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 1, 2003 On tap as guest beer at Legends in Richmond VA: Copper hue with a small frothy off-white head and fair lace. Vice nice aroma with hints of cookie dough, roasted malt, hazelnut, a touch of caramel, plum and orange fruits, and some spice. Sweet and lighty bitter taste initally with some fruitiness as well. The finish was crisp and bitter. Light to medium-bodied with a clean and lively mouthfeel. Very nice version of a fest beer. I enjoyed this one a lot, a break form the same old Octoberfest offerings. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Oct 30, 2003 Deep amber with a thick white head and good carbonation. Balanced aromas of nutty malts and herbal hops. Came off as a bold, full bodied beer that I would bet would be great with German food. Seemed similar to a Marzen with its bitterness, but without the sour aftertaste. Good balance of sweet and bitter flavors. VAYankee (248), Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 24, 2003 Overall an unremarkable beer. Pours a deep amber with a cream colored head. Sweet malty aroma with a hint of fruitiness. Mild malt flavoring with a shortlived slighty sweet malty aftertaste. Kinz (2205), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 18, 2003 Amber appearance, rapidly diminishing head. Aroma of mild malt and a bit of fruitiness. Not much malt backbone, some hoppy flavors in there, bit of grapefruit, and a bit of asparagus. Better than I expected, but pretty boring. Suttree (2732), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
