| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Jun 15, 2008 1/2L bottle from the brewery. Cloudy dark straw SRM 8. Carmelized malt and cheerios with a bit of honey in the nose. Rather grainey wheat flavor with a bit of fruity sourness. Moderatly dry finish. Lacks any of the yeast character normally associated with the style. More of an American style wheat ale. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jun 14, 2008 Cloudy orange (SRM of 9 according to my new BJCP Color Guide) body with a medium creamy off-white head. Yeasty fruity aroma with some cheerios and grainy hints. Dry yeasty grainy flavor with some light fruit and caramel. Medium light body with moderate carbonation. dkachur (2411), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | May 19, 2008 Bottle from Wine Warehouse Charlottesville. Pours orange with a small head that disappears quickly. Very bitter acrid aroma. Taste is much the same with a caramel sweetness. This is an odd brew. OldGrowth (1431), North Carolina, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 13, 2008 bottle, from Manteo location. Ok aroma. Not a strong aroma, get a little apple, grass, little skunk. None of the yeastiness I’ve come to expect from this style.Clean yellowy golden color, Big head, vigorous carbonation. Bittersweet flavor, again not strong, but more the aroma let on. got sweeter as it warmed. Lite body, thin slightly creamy mouthfeel, sweet finish. Alright, definate thirst quencher/lawn mower type. freekyp (902), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Sep 19, 2007 This hefe lacked ample banana and clove character which defines the style, opting towards a more citric tart character more like a Berliner Weisse, though admittedly more subdued. The appearance is also slightly off, perhaps a shade too light; more like a Beligian Weisse beer in appearance. Now I’m not one to rate beers based on accuracy to style. I believe that a good beer is a good beer regardless of the labelling, but this was a dissapointment overall. It was not really close to the style, and what it did do it did not do that pleasingly. Pass on this and hit the Helles. obguthr (1055), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 0.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/10 | 3/5 | 2/20 | Sep 6, 2007 Aroma of straw and mint, and like toothpaste. The pour is hazy yellow and headless, despite an aggressive attempt to produce one. Utter lack of carbonation. Phenolic and tastes like a salty apple. Tolerable bitter hop finish.
The last time I had a Weeping Radish was a number of years ago and I hated it. I was told the brewer no longer outsources and has resumed brewing inhouse. I see no improvement. If anything, this hefe tastes worse than the lager I had the first time.
