| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 30, 2004 I went to the Outer Banks this past week and had dinner at the Manteo pub. Great food, neat place, but this weizen was not good. Cloudy yellow with a foamy white head and lots of lemon in the nose (but it was served with a lemon slice, so that may have been it.) The restaurant is so German that I expected more from the beer. There were some clove and faint orange citrus flavors, but it was mostly water. Too thin all the way around. bubbleflubber (900), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 27, 2004 Updated: Aug 1, 2006Straight from the tap, the head pours thick, with aromas of citrus, clove, spice and banana. Yeast hazy lemon colors, indicative of the style. Flavors burst with lots of lemon and nice unripe bananas through the mid-palate, with proper hints of clove throughout the pull. Very refreshing/cleansing to the palate, and very easily drinkable. Perfect for summer! No doubt one of the best German hefe’s brewed in America. (The brewer brought his recipe straight from Germany where he studied for years.) Norton (296), The Fan, Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 30, 2004 Draft. Semi-cloudy gold. Not much head. Slightly tart. Nothing too noteworthy. An easy drinking wheat, ideal for the summer. BrewEd (182), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 23, 2004 Bottled: Not being a real wheat beer fan I felt I scored this one fairly high. Nice aroma of citrus, grass and licorice. I’ll probably try this one again. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 16, 2004 This pours a fairly clear light golden body with a nice tall wheat beer head. Sadly the head diminished rather quickly, especially for a weizen.
The aroma was excellent. a blend of yeast, banana and spice. nice palate, smooth, full, and with a nice wheat aspect at the end. haddon90 (1040), Alexandria, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 17, 2004 Golden/Orange pour with a qiuckly dimishing head. Wheat aroma. Citrusy as well. And wow what a taste!! Citrusy, malty, and kinda grassy. One of the better Hefe’s I’ve had! Good finish. Some spice lingers in the aftertaste! Definitely a good pickup. Bought this 12oz bottle at Total Wine in Manassas, VA. 5000 (2638), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 12, 2004 Bottle pours a cloudy orange, small fizzly head that dissipates very quickly, no real lacing, but some light carbonation. Bottle has a best before Feb 04 date, so we’ll see. Aroma is of light spices, some citrus, and wheat malts. Forwardly citrusy, wheaty, with some light spices. Full finish, lingering citrus and spice flavors, quite enjoyable. Thanks goes out to ross8425 for the trade!
