While it looks very nice (orange copper with strong off-white head), the aroma is very subdued. I was expecting more toasty notes. The flavor is malt forward, and what you would expect from a Marzen, but it was on the thin side, and lacked the caramel malt punch that would have made it a better example of the style. Tastes as it smells, with s good complexity comprised of the malt, caramel, spice, and I even caught some pumpkin in this. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA

An honor. poured a nice burnt umber coloring. Off white head, nice lacing. The aroma caramel, sour malts, yeast and nuts. The taste is like the nose, Caramel, malts, sourness that is not unpleasant. Mouth feel was midlevel and the finish was smooth. I liked this guys. Thank you to suttree. JFGrind (1354), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 29, 2004 Malty Oktoberfest, a bit darker than typical Marzens. I detected the same nutty fruitiness in this beer as my fellow raters. BuckNaked (1209), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 4, 2004 Thanks go out to Trip for bringing this one up from NC for me. Pours to a reddish-orange color, clear, with a small head. Aroma: Lots of malt, caramel, nuts, apple. Taste: Reminds me of a nut brown initially, toasted malt, caramel, and just a small amount of hops. On the downside it is a bit too watery, and could use a bit more of the malt. Very drinkable though. beerking99 (199), USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 10, 2003 Nose is malty, but with significant green apple character. Nice color and head. Slight haze. While the flavor is appropriately malty, the body is a bit thin and the green apple comes through very strong. urbnhautebourg (974), Annapolis, Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 30, 2002 Not a bad example of the style. More on the lighter side of Marzen (Dominion, Victory, Burgerbrau) than the richer side (Spaten, Paulaner, Sam’l Adams). Quite pleasant and would buy again.
