harrisoni (5331), Ashford, Kent, England Jul 10, 2008 Cask handpull at Ship & Mitre, Liverpool. It’s gold, obviously with a thin beige head. A strong golden beer in the Summer Lightning vane. In fact if you gave me this and said it was Summer Lightning I’d believe you. Some yeast on armoa, a bit sweet in mouth. Drying citrus hop on finish. wyzzywyz22 (387), Wirral, Merseyside, England Mar 24, 2008 Cask, Old Harkers Arms, Chester. Who’s in da (oast) house ?! Golden colour, prominent malt in aroma and flavour. Some fruit and hops tussling.
Drinkable but no cigar. chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England Nov 1, 2007 Cask (handpump) at GBBF, August 2006. Mid gold colour. Styled as a summer ale but the significant levels of fruity malt and the earthy hop notes contributed by the Goldings put this firmly in the bitter camp rather than golden ale. Although the hops aren’t particularly aromatic, there are plenty of them. An easy drinking and quite well-balanced ale without being anything spectacular. The wheat does not make its presence felt very prominently.
hughie (2254), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Oct 6, 2007 Cask, gravity, at Bedford Beer Festival ’07. Dark gold. Malty aroma. Delightful grainy malt taste plus a hint of pear fruitiness. Mid bitter finish. Magic_dave6 (4000), London, Greater London, England Jul 9, 2007 Bon Accord. Aroma was butty lager malts, hints of wheat if you goo deep enough, grassy and floural hop. Taste was buttery lager malts again the smoothness tells you theres wheat there, grassy hints in the finish but mainly sweet.
