tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Nov 3, 2009 Fairly standard stuff. Deep amber, white head. The aroma is tepid caramel malts. The flavor follows, a relatively weak malty beverage. Very light hops on the finish. Not bad at all, not a classic by any means. Holdwine (904), Beertimore, Maryland, USA Oct 31, 2009 Bottle. Lighter than I would have thought. Not quite "deep golden color". Slight skunk on the nose. Enough malt to keep you drinking. Hoppy for a fest beer leading to a bitter finish. nickd717 (1265), Palo Alto, California, USA Oct 30, 2009 Bottle from K&L Redwood City. Meh, this is the first from this brewery that I’ve found to be rather unexciting. Pours a very clear pale golden color with a dissipating white head. Aroma is caramel and pale malt, rather muted but pleasant. Flavor is again pleasant but not very exciting, with pilsner malt, caramel, and just a touch of herbal hops. No roast to speak of, which I expect some of from this style. Palate is very light and crisp, refreshing but uninspiring. Drinkability is high, but water is really drinkable too. Overall this is around average for the style. halfonit (415), Fall River, Massachusetts, USA Oct 29, 2009 Clear pale yellow color. Aroma is a skunked, malt and hop scent. Taste is a little bitter/skunked. Flavors are mainly malts and hops. Has a bitter aftertaste. shawnm213 (841), South Bend, Indiana, USA Oct 28, 2009 bottle. pours a clear yellow with a medium white head that dissapates quickly. notes of czech hops, Herbs, and earth. I don’t know. This went down quite easily. Very crisp and refreshing. Would drink this again. A good session beer. austone (997), Turku; Pori, Finland Oct 24, 2009 Draught at Mallaskukko. Very pale golden, tight white head leaving dishwashing lace. Pretty sweet nose with little white bread, sawdust, pear and mint. Hints of alchohol in there too, clean and mild. Flavor has mild herbal notes, minerals, clean maltiness, pale and ESL-like. Strong and coarse carbonation, but the reasonably malty body covers some of that. I like ’em more toasty and caramelly, like the Ayinger Fest-Märzen, but this still drinks pretty easy. BückDich (4777), McCall, Idaho, USA Oct 23, 2009 Bottle: Pours a clear color with a light white head. The nose is lightly fruity with some crisp pilsner malts and light nuttiness along with a fruity yeast thing. The flavor is a little thin with alcohol and fruity biscuit malts playing mostly. The finish is brief and crisp, easy drinking oktoberfest but needs a little more in the malt department to remain entertaining.
