Aroma of grains, sweet dough, dust, lemons and old cellar. Thin watery bodied with average to strong carbonation. Flavor of bread and grains with a slight touch of burnt rubber and some hop bitterness at the end. Bleh. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 7, 2008 33 cl bottle. Pours with hardly any lasting head in an Ayinger glass. Aroma is light grains/cereal. Flavor has a sweet, honey taste with toasty biscuit. Not the best beer out there by far. Finish has a metallic flavor. notalush (2684), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 6, 2008 Pours a clear golden, with a fizzy body, and a thick, but short-lived head - it threw me off at first, as I’m so used to o-fests being amber - pretty much everything about this beer isn’t what you’d expect an o-fest to be, which might account for some of the low ratings, but once you overlook that, this is a pretty decent lager - honey sweet nose, with soft, perfume-like floral hops, and a light bready character - the body is light and crisp - a noble hop bite presents first, with a light floral character that settles on top of it and lingers for a while, as mild honey sweetness gradually forms underneath it - the sweetness lingers for a bit, by crisp hops close things out - quite a refreshing brew - underrated, IMHO. Smells mainly of spicy noble hops. Light dough flavor eclipsed by noble hops. Spicy and soapy tasting. A bit sweet on the finish. Decent but certainly not an Oktoberfest.
