Commercial Description:
Nothing refreshes you more than this naturally cloudy wheat beer with its wonderful yeasty fragrance and taste. Goes well with dishes that do not have too intensive a flavour, especially that Bavarian speciality 'Weisswurst' or white sausage.

Wehenstephaner claims to be the oldest brewery in the world! This beer has a good-sized, but quickly sinking cap. There is a nice aroma of floral hops and a little citrus and wheat. Rich hefe flavor - full wheat and yeast - holds up well without lemon. Tingly carbonation. One mouthful told me that this is a first-rate hefeweizen, and subsequent swallows did not disappoint. I can see that the rest of the ratebeer crowd feels the same way, since this is in the top 1% for the style.

Golden with a huge thick head. Lots of carbonation seen rising from the bottom. Smells like malted wheat and a little spice. Also a little lemon.Taste is heavy of malted wheat, barley, and lemon. Not bitter and just the right touch of alcohol.Carbonation is great. Good aftertaste. This is an immediate favorite.

500 mL bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy golden blonde, with a thick head, most of which dissipates quickly. Aroma is a spicy, Belgian-like yeast. The flavor starts out with a strong yeastiness, with notes of citrus and spice. Slight aftertaste of wheat. Very nice mouthfeel. Not really my style of beer, but excellent for what it is.

[1504-20080701] 500mL bottle. Sweet grainy banana malt aroma has a hint of cotton candy. Hazy, orange brown body with a long-lasting foamy white head. Sweet grainy banana continues in the flavour with a nice base of toasted French bread. Medium body is smooth. A touch under-carbonated but lovely still, despite its lacking fizz factor.

500ml bottle. Pours a cloudy golden color with a fluffy white head and nice white lacing. Nose was spicey & banannas. Flavor was a refreshing mix of spicey cloves and wheaty grains. Also, the usual bananna flavor. I have not had a lot of hefes, but I thought this one was awesome.

Enjoyed this. Large head, course bubble size. Very sweet aroma and flavour. Typical cloudy look. Supposed to be the ’standard’ for this style - can’t argue!

bottle. A relatively gentle pour into a hefe glass still yields a huge, 3+ inch fluffy white head. Aromas of banana, some yeast grain, and hints of clove spice. Flavor shows great balance- mild spicy bitterness, banana sweetness, some mixed spices with cloves in the front, and a smooth bready sweetness. Palate is crisp and clean, plenty of flavor, with a clean and clear finish. Overall- a downright superb hefeweizen.

The best example of a German Weizen. Hazy pale yellow, big white fluffy head. Thick aroma of banana, yeast, wheat and some spice. Subtle flavour of wheat, banana, little hint of citrus. Very refreshing, prickly and creamy mouthfeel.
