| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 27, 2008 Draft - Brown beer with big tan head. Standard hefe aroma prhaps a bit more bready than normal. This is an excellent dunkel Hefe. The sweet wheat flavors are here without the over abundance of caramel sweetness that the dark malt can sometimes bring. mmmbeer (765), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 26, 2008 Pint bottle poured into my trusty stein-poured semi murky brownish orange, a very light head big enough to jump in and land safely into formed and stayed around for awhile, moderate carbonation. Aroma of yeast and bread. Hits the mouth with a light-medium body, the wheat malt tastes like it was burned when dried after harvesting, clove and banana make it’s way from the mess described earlier, finish is crisp and palate cleansining. A bit odd even for me. yesyouam (602), Fairport, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 26, 2008 Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel is a cloudy brown beer with a fluffy off-white head. The aroma is of banana and clove and possibly nutmeg and vanilla. It is medium bodied, smooth and soft. The flavor is spicy: all of the elements from the aroma plus raisins, prunes and apples. It is bready and semi-dry. All of the flavor seems to be from the yeast. What a unique beer. couchand (182), Iowa City, Iowa, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 25, 2008 Nice copper brown with foamy head. Bready, yeasty aromas pop off along with metallic notes. Quiet clovey vanilla softness in both scent and texture. Bready taste and toffeeish subtle cinnamon notes are there too, with quiet souring apples towards the back. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 20, 2008 A Sim rate (on tap at some rowdy German bierhaus in Brooklyn, NY): Typical German dunkel weissness in the aroma. So so yeasty, malty and wheaty. Nothing special in the appearance. It’s not particularly dark or cloudy as I would expect. Wheaty flavour. But nothing particularly sticks out. There aren’t any of the flavours I’d expect to taste from a dunkel weiss. No metal. No choc or caramel. Is this really a dunkel weiss?? Scubatrip (388), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 19, 2008 From the bottle, pours a hazy reddish brown weird color with a small white head. Nice aroma of bananas a a bit of chocolate, and otherwise like a pretty good hefe. Taste is similar in description to the aroma, with a slightly watery mouthfeel despite being thicker on the palate. I had higher hopes for this one, but I think it might just have been a bit too sweet.
