Looks great in the glass. Tastes very fresh, zippy, modest malty - really a good beer from the oldest brewery of the world! Probiere (992), Iowa, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 17, 2007 Not as pleasing as the helles-weiss. Soft caramel sweetness and a mid-palate metallic transition to a sharp wheat finish. Phenols and cloves in the aroma. Head did not last. gnoff (3579), Göteborg, Sweden

Huge tan head, almost hard to see any beer just after pouring.
Slight shady deep golden color, big creamy tan lasting head, even after
waiting a good while.
Estery and somewhat phenolic scent, banana and a bit spicy.
Grainy, malty, spicy, metallic and chocolate taste.
Alcohol and sweet aftertaste.
After a while it does get a bit smoked/rauchbier aftertaste.
Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness
Purchased on December 12, 2007.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2007 Excellent beer, some dark malt character with a grainy character. Flavor gets more complex as it warms in your glass, some yeast, caramel, very light floral hops. Pretty good change of pace beer. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2007 Beautiful, frothy, off-white head over a murky, swampy and reddish-brown. Highly wheaty aroma - kind of sweet and filled with honey. The aroma reminds me somewhat of the smell of breakfast cereal - Special K or something like that. The flavor is not bad - it is also very wheaty and slightly sweet. Its a refreshing and easy to drink beer. notalush (2699), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2007 Super hazy, bronze-colored beer, with a frothy head that continues to grown long after the pour - complex aroma of sweet, over-ripe fruits, yeasty qualities, a mild nuttiness - very smooth, with a medium body - the expected clove and spicy notes are present, along with a sweet, caramel apple flavor, and some slight notes of fig - quite fruity and sweet, but with enough balance spice to keep it quite pleasant and mellow. corby112 (782), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
