| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 18, 2006 Updated: Sep 29, 2006Bottle. Pours cloudy dark orange-brown with a large fluffy off-white head. Aroma is banana, clove, a hint of caramel malt, and a slight bit of roastiness. Flavor is the same components, with some yeast and a bit of unfortunate sourness (bad bottle?). As compared to their normal hefeweizen, this actually has a weaker flavor all around, except for the addition of some caramel malt and a bit of roasted malt. Doesn’t really seem heavier---it’s substantially thinner, in fact. In any case, this isn’t bad, but their superb normal hefeweizen is a *much* better choice than this dunkelweizen.
