| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 4, 2009 Appearance: A hazy caramel brown in colour with a large off-white head, which shows good retention.
Aroma: Nutty malts on the nose, with a hint of smokiness. There is a definite spiciness, possibly cinnamon, and cloves. Bananas maybe?
Taste: Sweet caramaly malts, and mild brown sugar. The spiciness that is in the aroma comes through strongly in the taste, offering Christmasy cinnamon flavours, as well as cloves. Bananas hiding in the middle.
Mouthfeel: Quite heavy in the palete, mildly lively, with a oily texture.
Drinkability: Really nice beer, great example of a dark wheat beer, from the oldest brewery in the world.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 2, 2009 500ml bottle. Pure dark brown hazy color with white head. There’s a slight caramel taste in this one that makes a good reaction to the original dunkelweize bitterness. Satisfying but honestly I expected more than that. OK though... basewars (145), Albany, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 29, 2009 Pours amber brown with thick white head. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, and banana. Medium bodied. Flavor is sweet with chocolate but spicy as well. Plenty of banana and malt. Finishes clean. Flavors develop nicely as it warms. Good stuff. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 14, 2009 Picked randomly from a local Wegmans, 1pt .9 ozs. Pours a dark cloudy brown with a fizzy yet foamy off white head. Aromas of banana, spices(some cinnamon, clove), and caramel. The flavor almost resembles some bubble gum at first hehehe. On a more serious note, the flavor is mellow and smooth with a balanced spiced(clove) and fruit(banana) note with a touch of caramel.
Semi sweet and so well balanced. Nice. slowrunner77 (58), reno, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 12, 2009 better than average, full body and flavor for the style. NG Black Wheat is still the best in this group, but this bear has a hearty aroma, and a mix of banana/clove & chocolate/black malt that is quite nice."

This was a very satisfying beer, I thought it would be darker but it was still superior. This is a very effervescent beer and very creamy beer, full body and excellent head. Really like this as one of my favorites. One of the best dark hefes even if its not so dark. halfonit (465), Fall River, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2009 Light brown color. Roasty yeast aroma. Taste is malty, with some bitter lactose undertones. Has a bite in the end. flatmatt (224), Northville, Michigan, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 28, 2009 500 mL bottle. Pours a completely hazed caramel brown with a large white head. Aromas of yeasty cloves, green apple, and some caramel in the background. Flavor is bubble gum and clove with a biscuity malt profile, a touch of green apple, and a very mild caramel impression. Light finish with cloves and green apple. Pleasant, but on the lighter side.
