| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 29, 2009 Poured a dark amber/copper that is mildly opaque. Thick white head filled the glass and persisted for several minutes but never quite disappearing.
Aroma is wheaty, with hints of rye. Hints of spices also apparent such as cloves.
Taste is clean and distinctly wheat with a strong malt character. Rye on the tip of the tongue. Spices play on the back of the palate. Fairly clean finish leads to a very refreshing drink. monkeychugg55 (229), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 18, 2009 Pours a very cloudy walnut with a huge soapy off white head, a lot of esters dancing around in there.Typically enjoyable aroma of clove, banana, and yeast, with a little bit of wheat bread and toasted malt. Flavor is similar, but more full bodied and robust than their regular hefe. kuphish (158), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 17, 2009 Bottle. Pours a large, creamy-frothy, off-white, root beer float-esque head. Murky body with some yeast cloudiness and a light brown color with some orange when the light shines through. Aroma is of bready wheat malt, cookie and toffee with a pronounced doughy yeast presence. Vanilla, clove and misc. spices (allspice, coriander) make up the bulk of the yeast phenol. The esters bring out some banana and from somewhere a bit of pear snuck in. Medium, creamy body with average carbonation. Lightly bitter finish. Very good. zvikar (431), Tel-Aviv, Israel
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 9, 2009 From tap @BeerFest in Israel, brown to red hazy liquid with medium head, aroma of banana and orange juice, flavor is quite smokey, has some malt banana and clove, finish is pleasant, body is medium. jodah52 (54), Michigan, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 4, 2009 This beer seems to do battle with itself - Hefeweissbier vs. dark malt flavors. It has the flavor of a very good Hefeweissbier with dark malts incongruously added. Aroma is good - fruity esters with a bit of acid and caramel, but suffers from the same incongruity. Good beer, but better to go with a pure Hefeweissbier or a Dopplebock, not mix the two styles. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 30, 2009 Carmally, malty. doughy. has kind of a bad aftertaste, salty. Some yeast, its rich warm, but has a kind of bad flavor mixed in there. NJBeerman013 (778), Trenton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 30, 2009 Bottle. Pours a mellow hazy brown in color with a fluffy off white head. Aroma notes are as expected for the style, banana, spice-clove, sweet dough. Flavors are much the same combining the clove - nutmeg and banana flavors of the wheat with the rich roasty malts of the dunkel. Very easy drinking and an enjoyable session. mickmac (96), Ngunnawal, Australia
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 30, 2009 From the bottle it pours with a huge rocky off white head and a yeast haze orange brown colour. The bear combines the wheat beer yeast flavours of cloves-banana with the caramel-toffee notes from the dark malts. Nice.
