yesyouam (369), Fairport, New York, USA Jun 26, 2008 Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel is a cloudy brown beer with a fluffy off-white head. The aroma is of banana and clove and possibly nutmeg and vanilla. It is medium bodied, smooth and soft. The flavor is spicy: all of the elements from the aroma plus raisins, prunes and apples. It is bready and semi-dry. All of the flavor seems to be from the yeast. What a unique beer.
Walter_Smidge (7), Sydney, Australia does not count Oct 12, 2008 Cloudly Burnt colour with an off white and very stable head.
Aromas of Malt and grains followed by fruit and taost. Medium bitterness and flavours of Bannana and Clove with backings of chocolate.
This was a very enjoyable beer to drink, great after a meal to prepare the palate for a desert. Or just on its own. Soonah (519), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Sep 30, 2008 The pour was a hazy brown color with a solid off-white head and spotty lacing. The aroma was malt heavy with some lighter spice, fruit and wheat coming through. The flavor was lightly roasted malt and dry wheat with some lighter hints of fruit. The mouthfeel was on the dry side, fairly light in body. Just OK. lumpsowers (87), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA Sep 30, 2008 Malty with cinnamon undertones, slightly dark fruit. A little flat for my tastes, drank from a large 16.9 oz. bottle, and I was a little disappointed. v8powered (25), , Nevada, USA Sep 28, 2008 Nice wheat and banana smell to the beer. Cloudy brown color. Malty, banana wheat flavor with slight bitterness. Slight spice flavor. Balanced and smooth. I enjoy this more than the regular hefe. tedovertu (133), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA Sep 26, 2008 Banana and clove definitely present. Pretty bland flavor for a Dunkelweizen. Medium brown hazy body with a good amount of lasting head. Aroma of hay/straw. Extremely light flavored for a Dunkel, I prefer a much more robust flavor.
