Bukowski9 (89), Piqua, Ohio, USA Apr 12, 2009 Bottle pour.Sweet wood caramel and molasses flavor, nose is almost identical.Easy to drink not thin either, well balanced instead.Really good doppelbock. nuplastikk (1159), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Apr 8, 2009 500 ml bottle. Deep stained glass brown color. Big, foamy head. The aroma is all out lagery, sweet with a caramel funkiness. Smooth and creamy on the palate, this goes down oh so easy. Toffee and butterscotch tones. Pretty sessionable ABV keeps it light and drinkable. No real hop character. Excellent beer. AskForJenny (627), Ontario, New York, USA Apr 6, 2009 0.5l - Dark brown liquid under small, light brown head. Wood and bread on a sweet smelling nose. Creamy, oaky, vanilla palate, a little sweet but fitting with the style. A nice bock. beachbum25 (778), Powellville, Maryland, USA Apr 4, 2009 16.9 oz bottle-Clear light brown color w/almost no head & good lacing. Rich roasted malt aroma; taste didn’t really deliver. Had some malt, some roasted nuts, but it was kind of boring. Seemed kind of flat to me, needed more sweetness or malt flavor or spice or...something. Short flat finish. mickmac (67), Ngunnawal, Australia Apr 4, 2009 Bottle. Pours with a large light brown head and a clear ruby-black colour. Great toasted-caramel and light resinous hoppy aroma.Understated crystal malt taste with a subtle spiciness and a residual sweetness and a slight alcoholic warmth to the finish. SoberCajun (49), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Apr 4, 2009 Pours hazy dark brown with a nice inch-thick tan head that lingers. Nice bright floral aroma, nutty and sweet. Solid malt flavor with great background of nuts, caramel, coffee and a nice warming kick of alcohol. Slight bitter aftertaste, but a nice clean finish. A very smooth drinking experience, always wanted more after each sip. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Apr 1, 2009 Bottle (thanks bierkoning!). Very dark brown color with a medium, stable, beige head. Nice caramelly aroma with some bread and quite a bit of nuts. Sweet firm malty flavor with roasted dark bread, caramel, some toffee and light alcohol notes. Nice heavy mouthfeel. A very good winter beer. kopher (295), New York, USA Mar 30, 2009 pours a clear reddish-brown, thick but quickly-receding beige foam
