(Bottle at Weihenstephan Berlin on 2009-02-04) Dark reddish brown and clear. Long lastin tan coloured head. Chcolate, malts and caramell in aroma. Full bodied and thick palate with little carbonation. Cholate, malts, caramell and bitterness in balanced taste. Chocolate and bitterness in aftertaste.

Pours a reddish brown with a small head. Light molasses and brown sugar dominate the sweet, but dry flavor. There’s even some dark fruit in there. Supremely drinkable - very smooth, and dry enough to keep it from being too sweet. Very flavorful. Nice!

Pours a dark copper tinted brown with a tall, creamy tan head that has good retention. Aroma is dark malt, roast, toast, lots of caramel, butterscotch, some candy and dark fruit notes as well. Flavor is sweet wheat bread right away, quickly followed by sweet malt, a little roast, chocolate, candied pit fruit, date nut bread and some overripse bananas. Finish is suprisingly bitter hoppy and sudden, almost off putting at first as the transition is unexpected but it works fairly well after a few swallows.

500ml bottle served in a hefe glass. Poured a beautiful mahogany with three fingers of tan head. Malty aroma with molasses and dark fruit. Also some noble hop aroma. Rich malty flavor with some chocolate and more molasses. Not overly sweet. Very smooth and creamy Nice malt complexity. Very drinkable. I liked this a lot. If you are a fan of German malt flavor, you should try this.

A great sweet aroma, deep mahogany body and dark tan foamy head, and fine roasted malt, coffee and nuttiness in the mix. A very nice double bock.

This is one of those that left a weird impression on me the first time around, I couldn’t put my finger on it at the time, but it is very nice this go around. The beer pours a beautiful deep ruby color with a nice tight tan head leaving a good lace. Aroma is sweet, nutty, very malty. Flavor is far more intense than the aroma but follows suit. Immedate notes of molasses, some good roasted malt, and a lot of nice nuttiness working around in the background. There is a mild bitterness which seems to come more from the roastedness of the malt, but works with the bit of hops that is present. Palate is very slick sort of oily but plesant never the less.
