Jan 14, 2009 Pours brown with a red hue, dark but glowing and see-thru, with a medium off-white frothy head that dissipates quickly into a thin fine cream. Nice roasty grassy aroma, lightly rich, raisins, nutty and very German. Yummy first taste, quite enjoyable, dark roasted malts without any sign of being burnt, some chocolate and caramel, raisins, roasted bread, grassy, rich and very smooth, just sweet enough. Almost a 5 in palate, super smooth, light sharp fizzy carbonation, almost creamy, nice soft mouthful overall.

Jan 10, 2009 Draft at Paradiso. I could have drank this for hours. Faint aroma of sweet chocolate, and a nuttiness. The flavor is where this one got me. Touches of toffee and lots of fruits, raisins, plums, vanilla, and caramel. Something about this one really got me.

Jan 7, 2009 Deep brown pour with thick and creamy light tan/slightly yellowish head. Malty caramel, some wheat, and notes of chocolate and hazelnuts on the nose. Stronger chocolate and nuts on the palate. Great long finish.

Jan 6, 2009 Rich brown colour. Thin, creamy head. Full aroma of roasted malts with hints of cocoa. Warming malty flavour. Lingering hint of cloves stays on the tongue accompanying the warming alcohol.

Jan 5, 2009 500 mL. Pours a deep clear red with a modest cappuccino head that settles to a nice film. Not too much lacing. Aromas of caramel, overripe fruits, and for some reason chlorinated pool water- yuck. Taste is rye bread with lots of molasses and cocoa powder. Long, dry, bitter finish. 7.4% is nicely hidden. Somewhat of a disappointment after traveling far and wide to find this sucker.

Dec 27, 2008 A deep mahogany color with nice creamy off-white head. A solid caramel malt aroma. Roasted malt flavor with a caramel finished. Creamy mouth feel with a dry malty finish that lingers quite well.

Dec 23, 2008 Clear dark amber with a huge beige good lasting head. Sweet aroma with overripe rotten fruits, roasted malt and caramel notes. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, rye bread, caramel and overripe fruits. Warming alcohol towards the end.
