50cl bottle. Very dark ruby, firm lacey beige head. Buttery, rye bready roasted aroma, little vinous fruits, rowanberry, coffee and nuttiness. Roasted malty flavor, sweet rye, berries, herbal licorice finish. A tad alcoholic, smooth full palate. A great dobbelbock.

16.9 oz bottle. Dark purple brown with a thin beige head. Nose is grape, toast, caramel and some honey. Enough to chew on without feeling heavy. Light carb. Taste is caramel and raisin with hints of tobacco. Nice burnt sugar finish. Very good. I was surprised at how much i liked this.

500ml Bottle: Aroma of malts, slight smoke, nuts, woods, roasting, slight peat, light wort, and fallen oak leaves. Poured brown/dark amber in color with a small, dense, tan head that lasted throughout. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Ok lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of malts, nuts, fallen oak leaves, light caramel, slight toffee, slight roasting, and slight brown sugar. Medium body. Smooth, lightly syrupy texture. Average texture. Lightly sweet, nutty, malty finish.

Bottle No head, bllack and filtered. Nose of yeast and wheat. Taste of chocolate, roasted malts, wheaty, sweet and sticky. A bit too carbonated and fluffy. Good but not great.

Sampled at the Great Decatur Beer Tasting Festival in Georgia on 10/18/08. Deep amber in color. Aroma - Very malty. Taste was complex. Malt, caramel dark fruit - raisin and plum. Smokey and spicey. One of my favorites of the day.

Bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Deep hazy brown color with a small beige head. Nose of candied dark fruits (plums, figs, raisins). For some reason I caught some dry dog food in there?? That really turned me off of this beer, I have tried in the past and remember really liking it. I might have gotten an old bottle.

500 ml bottle shared during Nertz party. Nice malty aromas. Prune and brown sugar. Sweet flavor with more dark fruits and some dust. A very decent Doppelbock.

Oh yea, cute dark, like root beer pour without a head. Has that lucious dunkle or dark lager aroma with a mild volatile eythanol olfactory. Chocolaty initial flavor impact evolves into a stronger alky palate. Each swig comes across the same way, chocolaty to an american malt liquor evolution. At first I didn’t think this was 7+% but now I am a believer. oooowahhh. Yowser bowser, as Mario or Luigi would say. A dark lager that finishes like a malt. Good change of pace. Detectable miniscule carbonation creaminess. I almost want to give it a mid taste rating but its just a tad too much alky for this pale yelow lager lover. Alky bite remains a little rude at the end.
