A double bock beer that has what it takes. Not just for lovers of strong beer. With a malty aroma and great taste, our Korbinian is a true beer speciality. It goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as wild roasts and fowl.

(Bottle). Sweet caramel malt aroma. Reddish amber body, small creamy tan head. Sweet fruity and caramel malt flavor. A bit too sweet. Surprisingly light finish.

Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of dark bread, toasted and mild coffee, moderate hops of herbs and resin, light earth for the yeast, and notes of raisin, soy sauce, toffee, honey, and cola. Head is fizzy, light brown with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is brown. Flavor starts heavily sweet and lightly acidic, and finishes lightly sweet and bitter. Palate is medium to full, between creamy and syrupy and has a lively carbonation. Nice deep malty aromas and a sweet flavor makes this a great Doppelbock for me.

500ml bottle. BB 30.07.09. Pours a beautiful ruby-highlighted deep bronze body with a dense, creamy light-tan lace clinging to the glass. Big malt aroma; rich cocoa, roasted nut, melanoidin graininess, cream, dark plum and vinous dried fruits. Rich lenghty palate, low fluffy carbonation, sticky texture with drying dark chocolate tannic quality. Wow! This beer is just chock-a-block with delicious malt character; dark chocolate, caramel, honey, nuts, cocoa, figs, prune, raisin, subtle smoke and liquorice. Drying finish, dried fruits and cocoa lingers. This is great! Big, succulent, malt-driven lager. Cleaner and less complex than big dark Belgians, but certainly is enjoyable!

Clear dark mohogany pour with fair light tan head. Dark fruit aroma with caramel malt. Flavors of honey, raisin, malt, and plum. There is even some meatiness in there! Creamy medium body with a sweet malty finish. Fantastic doppelbock and a great label to boot!

pours a murky brown with a cream head. Aroma is caramel and raisins. Taste Is more dark fruit, chocolate, vanilla and a nice bitterness on the end to cut some of the sweetness. Not a huge dopplebock fan but this is one of the best I’ve had.

In short: An overly sweet and slightly fruity big bock
How: Bottle, consumed fresh a few days after purchase
The look: Very dark ruby body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Crisp molasses (and lots of it), raisins, toffee, some black liquorice, some tobacco. Somewhat sticky. Starts off ok but syrupy sweet and by the end of the bottle I was sick of it. Might please those with a sweet teeth. But I must admit not being a big fan of Doppelbocks, I’ve never been to a Doppelbock game cheering “Go Doppelbocks Go!”.
