Bottle & on tap @ in de Wildeman. Dark reddish brown colour, big off-white head. Aroma of caramel, laurel, liquorice, cloves, roasted malts. Taste is sweet, malty, brown sugar, laurel, liquorice and cloves, roasted malts, dark fruits. Very complex. Nice slightly bitter finish. Smooth palate. Geat tasting beer.

Poured from a 16 oz bottle. Deep brown with a hint of red, tan head. Very deep flavors, including fruits, raisins, a hint of coca and even some earthy flavors. Flavor also slightly roasted. Slightly carbonated and goes down very smoothly. Very good example of dopplebock, especially for the price.

Bottle: Pours a deep brownish ruby with a creamy tan head. The aroma is roasted, with rich malt character. Notes of mild cocoa, maple, raisins, as well as earthy suggestions (soil-like) to accompany the sweeter side. Creamy and silky mouthfeel. Mildly carbonated. Chewy malt flavors are there, yet it remains nice and soft. Sweet and roasted flavor balance nicely. Some mild maple notes, cocoa, dark German malt heartiness, followed by a mild roasted finish. Smooth and very traditionally true to style.

Very good. Full bodied and malty. Rich and very full flavored. Nutty with dark fruit (especially raisins) sweetness. Some mollasses taste as well. Not too sweet though. Some alcohol in the finish. Lightly carbonated and highly drinkable.

This is a nice one. Appearance: Dark brown, looks suspiciously like Coca-Cola in my pilsener glass. Aroma: A tad (but just a tad) on the weak side in my book. Nicely malty and caramelly. Taste: Very nice! Raisins, caramel, a subtle but solid Noble Hop presence, nutty and toasty. I gave it a 8.5, which is not an option on the RB scale. Palate: Spritzy. Overall: It’s no Curator or Celebrator to be sure, but for the price (much cheaper than either of those!) it can’t be beat. I used it in the preparation of Doppelbock-Thai pork balls served with a spicy peanut sauce, with snap peas and rice noodles. A glass of it along with the meal was a divine pairing. This would be good with an array of desserts as well.

Pours a dark amber brown color with a small off white froth. Aroma is mostly malty and fruity like plum and raisin with some nutty notes. Flavor is extremely malty with some mild dark fruitiness. The nut flavors really come out in the finish and there is a sweet sugary flavor that lingers. Full bodied and sticky in the mouth feel. A very good doppelbock.

Tan diminishing head. Dark reddish brown color. Dark fruit and molasses aroma. Really tangy taste. Sweet maltiness all over. A bunch of fruitiness. Has an almost brandy taste.

bottle 1pt .9oz. Pours deep brown with red highlights and a fairly small off white, beige head. Smells of dry barley and caramel. Taste is bitter up front and in the finish. This beer reminds me of a Schwarzbier.
