| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 6, 2008 Pours translucent mahogany into the glass, with a thin tan-ring head that diminishes to nothing. Big malty nose, with hints of tobacco and smoked meats. Sweet malt to the tongue, with some dates, slight smoke and a tiny toasted bitter to finish the pull. Very nice, warming malty brew, with good carbo levels that compliment a medium-soft mouthfeel. Decent complexities at work, and only get better as it warms toward room temperature, opening further and lending tighter integration between the nose and the flavors. Nice job on this one. gueuzeisgod (109), Graham, North Carolina, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 2, 2008 Poured a dark amber brown with medium tan head that left a nice ring lacing on the glass.
The smells were faint, but I picked up some burnt caramel and dark malts.
Tasted a bit of coffee and chocolate, roasted malts, and hops.
Thick and heavy, but silky smooth.
Pour me another please, I could drink these all night.

The balance is very nice as it has a nice light bitter finish. This is good stuff! Guinness4Duff (507), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 25, 2008 Bottle. Dark mahogany-red pour with a fluffy tan head. Up front malty nose - caramel, dates, yeast, and toasty with some vanilla. Flavor is similar, caramel malt dominates. Smooth bitterness in the finish, but thin and metallic. Nice but didn’t blow me away.
