| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 5, 2008 Pours a nice dark brown color with some copper highlights. Light tan head. Nose is brown sugar, caramel, and a hint of roasted malt. Taste is very muted as I only pick up sugar and some malt. Very hard to taste anything. The alcohol content is well hidden I will say that. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head and a smell of caramel, brown sugar, honey and malt. The flavor is malty sweet with brown sugar and a hoppy bite. I would have liked it a bit less hoppy. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Pours a golden amber with a tight beige head. Aroma is caramely, doughy and sweet with no significant hoppiness. Flavor is rich with caramel and toasted malts, ripe fruits, a faint hop bite, and some smoky undertones. The finish is sweet and lingering with mild alcohol warmth. Extremely well balanced; bold without being overpowering. Very nice! illidurit (872), Santa Cruz, California, USA

Nose is very dark, with a kind of fruitcake-like sweet doughy maltiness. Some milk chocolate influence as well.
Tastes very sweet, with a lot of rich malt and sugary dark fruit notes like date and prune. The chocolate note comes out in the flavor, as well as a distinct flavor of fresh grainy bread.
Very smooth on the palate, with great carbonation and a nice medium-full body. A bit too sweet to be incredibly drinkable. theshocker (329), Marietta, Georgia, USA

At first its a bit heavy and sweet, but its gets smoother as you drink it. Funny how that happens with big beers. Its got a fruity, estery flavor. Not much bitterness at all.
