Hits the mouth with a medium body, some smoke quality to it in the middle intertwined with sweetness, heavy roasted malt notes on backend. Knew I should have bought more than one bottle... | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 15, 2008 Flaske. Mørkebrun øl, næsten stout agtig i farven. Sød og maltet i duften. Dette gik endnu mere igennem i smagen. Typisk doppelbock men nuancerne druknede en smule i den søde maltbase. SynergyXJ (506), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 14, 2008 Bottle Black pour with decent tan head. Slightly sweet aroma and flavor. Actually smells and tastes pretty schwartzbier-ish. Good brew though, enjoyable. markwise (1175), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 14, 2008 This is a pretty good doppelbock. Pours with a nice cream colored head. Dark brown beer with malt, smoke some chocolate (?). Middle- to highly rated doppel. LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma is good. Strong caramel malt and sticky Sugar Daddies. Pour was a beautiful deep red/amber with no head. Taste was nice and sweet but not full enough. Strong caramel malt with a hint of roasted malt and some smoke. Doppelbocks are hit or miss with me and this is leaning towards the good side. BeerGestapo (738), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 12, 2008 Pours a dark reddish-brown with an orange-brown head. Aroma has some meat in there, maybe smoked salmon...? Lots of power in there, pretty impressive. A hint of dark fruit appears as it warms up. Tastes like beef jerky... pretty subtle, but very good. Nice and clean finish, too. My only problem is a slight chalkiness in the mouth feel. Really classy beer. I’ll be visiting this one again. LordNeuf (125), Acton, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 19/20 | Feb 11, 2008 This is one of the best Dopplebock beers I’ve ever had. Sweet, malty, an undertone of raisins with a good overall mouth feel.
A definite buy.
