BeerGestapo (725), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 13, 2008 Updated: Apr 16, 2008(German) Very Dark Brown with Med-Tan Head. The Beer has a Smoky chocolate or Molasses taste!!!! Soft Palate, with a nice finish. Damn good stuff. :) xibalba89 (147), New York, New York, USA Feb 12, 2008 Pours a dark reddish-brown with an orange-brown head. Aroma has some meat in there, maybe smoked salmon...? Lots of power in there, pretty impressive. A hint of dark fruit appears as it warms up. Tastes like beef jerky... pretty subtle, but very good. Nice and clean finish, too. My only problem is a slight chalkiness in the mouth feel. Really classy beer. I’ll be visiting this one again. LordNeuf (125), Acton, Massachusetts, USA Feb 11, 2008 This is one of the best Dopplebock beers I’ve ever had. Sweet, malty, an undertone of raisins with a good overall mouth feel.
A definite buy. WickerBrew (312), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 11, 2008 Very classy and gets the style to the T, there is nothing at all that detracts from this. Dark and sweet and full of malt, this beer is exactly what it is. Wish i would have had some food with it, the natural sweet darkness would have been a nice compliment to lots of things. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Feb 9, 2008 16.9oz bottle-pours a rich foamy tan head that laces and red color. Aroma is roasted husky dark malt. Taste is sweet roasted dark malt-molasses/chocolate, dark fruit, secondary earthy hops. Nice. Soft carbonation. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Feb 8, 2008 Dark brown with the thinnest of white heads. Sweet, fruity malt aroma ... very much a dopplebock nose. Flavor is lightly sweet malt: dark, rich and maybe a tad earthy with some caramel and ripe fruit. Soft and subtle mouthfeel. Lightly smoked/roasted bittersweet finish. Nice. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Feb 5, 2008 Clear ruby red, sticky, frothy head. Malty, dark fruit aroma with some spicy hops. Big and malty, fruity and sweet with excellent dark caramel malt flavor. Huge, soft palate. Finishes very delicate for such a large beer. Quite graceful. Ansset13 (127), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA Feb 1, 2008 The pour is nearly black with a small tan head. The nose is dark fruit, toffee, maple and a few I just can’t seem to grasp. The flavor is well balanced and I would to try this again.
