Bottle. Chocolate brown color, smoky and malty aroma. Flavor is roasted malt with a hint of raisin. Very smooth palate and excellent flavor hides high alcohol content. One of the better Doppelbocks widely available.

Bottle. Dark brown with garnet highlights when held to the light. Small off-white head with some lacing of glass. strong aroma of roasted malt. Good, almost smokey flavor of malt and raisin that does a good job of hiding the alcohol. An excellent doppelbock.

Gorgeous mahogany red pour with a clinging skin of off white. Basic raisin aroma. Quiet hints of overripe banana, Christmas spices, and dried orange. Wet vanilla-tinted tobacco leaves with a subdued hoppiness. Tastes a bit of maple-dipped walnuts and simple fruitiness - this has an apple skin, pear and prune character more than anything else. Cinnamon and rye whiskey with a dry bite on the back end. Softest suggestions of vanilla and cocoa. Perfectly rounded malt qualities with a whisper of noble bitterness. Clean and robust palate. A gentle touch of sweet smoke and alcohol rub. Brilliant example.

Pours dark chocolate, with a fairly dense head. Smells of malt, fine yeast, and a whiff of alcohol. At first, had a slight metallic taste, but that faded into a nice, bready, molasses flavor. Finishes with a hint of alcohol. Very, very nice Dunkle, I really like the family of Weinstephaner brews.
