Mike4686 (120), Bayonne, New Jersey, USA Aug 30, 2007 500ml bottle, pours dark brown, looks like soda, nice malty character, very sweet, caramel and bread, sugar, very good beer indeed. BOBANDDOUG (61), Belleville, Illinois, USA Aug 29, 2007 Pours dark chocolate, with a fairly dense head. Smells of malt, fine yeast, and a whiff of alcohol.
At first, had a slight metallic taste, but that faded into a nice, bready, molasses flavor.
Finishes with a hint of alcohol. Very, very nice Dunkle, I really like the family of Weinstephaner brews. hellbilly (1502), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Aug 25, 2007 dark brown pour with reddish highlights. smells the way chocolate malt balls taste with some molasses. flavor is also molasses, dried figs, prunes, leather and wood but mostly molasses. alcohol comes from my nose... ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 25, 2007 great beer. Malty and yeasty aroma. Pours dark copper, very clean looking. nice looking creamy head. hop up front, malt on the back of the tongue. Beer2000 (1775), Kristiansand, Norway Aug 6, 2007 500 ml bottle. Dark brown body with a small, dense beige head. Aroma has roasted malt, coffee, dry fruit and caramel. Flavor is sweet, roasted malt, coffee, caramel with a hint of liquorices and vanilla. Not much bitter and relatively light body. Very nice and refreshing. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 29, 2007 Brown color with a nice sized, but quickly fading beige head. Thick, malty aroma with some nutty, dark fruit detectable. Taste has a nice sugary, bready sweetness with a bit of dark fruit, and smoky flavors. Seemed a tad thin and watery. Nice D-Bock thats true to style. doubelknv3 (559), Illinois, USA Jul 28, 2007 Updated: Oct 24, 2008Espresso, chocolate, roasted nuts, and sweet black berry aroma notes. Brownish-black with sticking head. Fruity malt, espresso, and mild alcohol flavours. Smooth and well balanced. yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Jul 25, 2007 Bottle. Ruby, clear body with a dense, beige head. Caramel, raisins, sweetness and a little earthy note in the aroma. The flavor is quite sweetish, mostly brown sugars, with caramel, dried fruits, a little roasted note, and some warming alcohol. Quite full-bodied, and finishing with a slightly roast, caramel and quite sweetness. Definately a nice brew, yet it lacks a bit to be The doppelbock. Maybe it’s a bit too sweet, hence lacking some balance. (070725)
