Thick, malty aroma with some nutty, dark fruit detectable. Taste has a nice sugary, bready sweetness with a bit of dark fruit, and smoky flavors. Seemed a tad thin and watery. Nice D-Bock thats true to style. doubelknv3 (566), Illinois, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 25, 2007 Bottle. Ruby, clear body with a dense, beige head. Caramel, raisins, sweetness and a little earthy note in the aroma. The flavor is quite sweetish, mostly brown sugars, with caramel, dried fruits, a little roasted note, and some warming alcohol. Quite full-bodied, and finishing with a slightly roast, caramel and quite sweetness. Definately a nice brew, yet it lacks a bit to be The doppelbock. Maybe it’s a bit too sweet, hence lacking some balance. (070725) jrob21 (1257), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 9, 2007 Bottle. Pours dark caramel ruby, off white head. Aroma is caramel, malt, wet earth, grass, nuts, toffee. Flavor is wheat, malt, caramel, vanilla, roasted nuts, molasses. The aroma threw me a bit off because I’m not a fan of wet earthy smells. Overall, pretty decent. rayg1 (437), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 8, 2007 Pours a deep brown and develops a nice thick tan head which is very impressive looking. Aroma is nutty malts and sweet caramel with dark sugars. Taste is very sweet, even more so than expected and found it slightly cloying. I’m picking up lots of brown sugars and toffee at the end of the sip. A slight roasted taste comes over and balances the sweetness to a degree but not as much as I would have hoped.
