Reddish brown, moderate head and good lacing and retention. Aroma is caramel with light molasses, this is dominated by sweet malts. Medium bodied and well balanced and easy to drink. Enjoyable.

Pours dark and cloudy with a thick tan head and some lacing. Sweet malty brew with more dark fruitiness than other doppelbocks. A bit light and bubbly for such a brew, but it doesn’t really hurt this one. Could be paired with some good fish.

Hazy mahogany with a large head. Head retention was low. Aroma of caramel, roasted nuts, dark fruits and bread. Raisins and toffee is the taste. Medium to heavy body. Slightly syrupy texture. Sweet finish. Pleasantly surprising.

16.9oz. bottle. Rich, sweet, fresh caramel aroma. Can’t really see the color ’cause I poured into a ceramic stein(maybe darkish caramellish reddish brown?). Nice full, bubbly, tan head, with some fairly quickly dissipating lacing. Tastes sweet and malty, as expected, with some sugary dark fruit notes. Medium body. This is not one of my favorite styles, but I think this is pretty well done. Has an unexpectedly light and lively carbonation that I find enjoyable. Me thinks would probably be enhanced paired with some good, gamey meats. Arrrgghh!

Bottle (many thanks to Kölschtrinker !): Very dark amber coloured, small foamy off-white layer; distinctive malty-fruity (dried fruit) nose with a tinge of burnt malt and coffee; robust bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied; sweet-fruity finish, mixed a bit with sugary molasses, followed by some almost tart bitterness in the aftertaste. A decent Doppelbock, well balanced.......

Pours an opaque mahogany color with a nice tan head. Lots of malt in the nose. Sweet malt taste, enough hops to keep it from being too sweet. You can almost chew this beer. I had it on the coldest night of the year [so far]and it made a nice winter warmer.

Courtesy of DYCSoccer17. Purple-tinged ruby brown. Sparse, very fine lacing with excellent legs. Nutty, chocolatey aroma with hints of anise and whole wheat bread. Sweet, luscious flavor with chocolate and coffee notes. Substantial, somewhat smoky bitterness finishes it off. The finish is more unexciting and flatter than one would have expected from what preceded it.

Rich color with a very caramel nose. There are also hints of chocolate and metal in the tates. A good dopplebock, but not a great one. 636315 ---re-rate--- 6/25/09 Aroma is sweet caramel and toast. Taste is sweet, a bit slick and fruity. Mouthfeel is full and viscous without cloying. Nice
