Deep brown pour, lots of light tan head that fades away fairly quickly. Inky raisin and milk chocolate aroma. Soft chocolate flavor with sort of an iron/chalk edge. A bit of lingering raisin. For all the sweetness, it still presents a little thin. Not bad, but leaves me a bit indifferent. ajm (917), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 4, 2009 Bottle at Farina in Albuquerque. Aroma is toasted malt; flavor is light raisin peel, the same roast and light caramel. Not as rich as Blockhead, but certainly a great example of the style. WesKBob (321), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 2, 2009 Pours a dark brown with a moderate tan head; decent retention and lacing. Aromia is sweet malts, is per the style. Flavor is equally sweet and malty, with caramel and clover honey. The sweetness is balanced just a bit by some coffee bitterness. Thick, full mouthfeel that is still very smooth. A very nice example of a dobbelbock. LtDan (478), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 8, 2009 Poured a clear dark brown with a quick dissipating head. Swore the aroma was of bath water, but maybe I had a tainted glass (so I’ll trust the aroma notes of others). Malt, caramel, coffee flavor. Medium bodied, no carbonation. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 1, 2009 Big, dark brown pour with tan filmy head. Caramelly aroma with notes of tobacco, toffee and roasted malts. Flavor is mostly roasted malt, toffee, caramel, some coffee notes, some fruit, a little weird finish. A hearty, nice mouthfeel. Good, but not great.
