Roasted malty taste. Bitter palate, like a lot of German beers. Rerate Better, maybe perfect temperature. But this bock is quite good actually. Almost a combination between the dunkel and a bockbeer. Malty, bit fruity and also heavy on the stomach. daknole (3031), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 14, 2005 Bottle. Chocolate caramel, molasses, and malt aroma. Reddish brown color with decent head for a doppelbock. Sweet prune and German rye bread flavor. Moderate bitter finish but little astringency. Very smooth. Not the strongest flavored doppelbock but that’s what I really like about it. Very nice. rauchbier (3004), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England

Good bocky melanoidin and roast barley notes in the nose, smooth mouthfilling toffee and cream in the mouth and a sweet finish with a delicate prickle of hop bitterness. At a festival that celebrates just one basic beer type, it becomes difficult to find favour or fault with any one beer. Imagine twenty Dutchmen playing the same tune on a variety of trumpets, some play the tune as written, some with a flourish or two. Then up stands a German, produces a tuba and plays the same tune in an Umpah stylee and everyone takes notice. A big brash tuba of a beer in a sea of trumpets.
