Thick, malty aroma with some nutty, dark fruit detectable. Taste has a nice sugary, bready sweetness with a bit of dark fruit, and smoky flavors. Seemed a tad thin and watery. Taste of the same with malts, chocolate, caramel, and slight coffee coming out throughout this medium to full bodied brew. I’m not a big fan of this style but I tink this brew is very well made. Great beer. TheBeerOrg (1588), Kentucky, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 11, 2005 Updated: Mar 21, 2007Dark mahogany, aroma of molasses and caramel. A tad more syrupey than I’d like, not as well balanced as my favorite bocks, namely the Celebrator and Aventinus. The aftertaste is more malty than the initial flavour, and it lingers well on the tongue. I plan to rerate this winter in the doppelbock showdown.
