But altogether, not really that impressive for the style. Not as hardy or chewy as an Aventinus- the all time great in the category. TheBeerOrg (1586), Kentucky, USA

A tad more syrupey than I’d like, not as well balanced as my favorite bocks, namely the Celebrator and Aventinus. The aftertaste is more malty than the initial flavour, and it lingers well on the tongue. I plan to rerate this winter in the doppelbock showdown. Saarlander (1583), Rancho Cucamonga, California, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Bottle Pours a dark brown that lets a fair bit of light through around the edges. There is enough head that I would guess that I’ve only got 8 ounces or so in my pint glass. Aromas are of roasted malt, nuts and damp earth. Flavor, mouthfeel and palate are all very lovely except for a slight bit of cloying sweetness that I detect from time to time... not every sip, but it’s there enough to get a little annoying. Still, very nice drink. mjs (1541), Helsinki, Finland

Chocolate and bitterness in aftertaste. hellbilly (1534), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
