Pours a dark copper brown with a sparse off-white head. Sweet caramel and slight nutty aroma, but mostly sweetness. Nice taste - sweet malty flavor with mild spice. The sweetness never gets to be overboard and the finish actually ends up bring a little dry. A nice dopplebock, still getting a feel for the variety available within the style.

Pours dark clear mahogany with a medium, creamy beige head. Smoke, peat, candy-like sweetness and a hint of grass in the nose. Very bold and malty with notes of caramel, dark cherry, plum, raisin, sweet toffee, peat, brown sugar, molasses and a hint of chocolate. Pleasantly sweet with just enough hops for balance. Medium bodied with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Decent head retention. Overall, great beer.

Bottle - 500mml. Pours a hazy terracotta brown body with average carbonation and a nice beige frothy head. Complex malty/hoppy aroma with herbal, toffee, fruity and spicy hints. Its taste is well balanced and is less punchy than I was expecting. It carries plum/raisin and brown sugar notes, and ends with a sweet and relatively mild finish. Very enjoyable.

Pours brown with a red hue, dark but glowing and see-thru, with a medium off-white frothy head that dissipates quickly into a thin fine cream. Nice roasty grassy aroma, lightly rich, raisins, nutty and very German. Yummy first taste, quite enjoyable, dark roasted malts without any sign of being burnt, some chocolate and caramel, raisins, roasted bread, grassy, rich and very smooth, just sweet enough. Almost a 5 in palate, super smooth, light sharp fizzy carbonation, almost creamy, nice soft mouthful overall.

16 oz bottle purchased at Spirits RB. Mostly sweet aroma with notes of raisin, dark fruit, slightly sugary and a touch of smoke in the background. The sweetnes translates into the flavor nicely with lots of dark fruit showing up from the malts, molassess and some black liquorice. Very solid beer that was a pleasant suprise.

Finally back in NJ. Tap at Andy’s, and bottle. I think my preference is the bottle.Clear copper, tan head. Malty dark bread aroma. Big malty flavor. Munich malts apparet. Thick mouth feel. Malty finish. Good double bock. Glad it is back.

Pours a reddish cola color, settles a bit darker with a nice clear gem-like glow, thin tannish head breifly makes an effort to stay but fizzes quickly down to a thin hazy skim and ring, lace in minimal spots. Aroma is a bit faint of toasty sweet malts and dark fruits lending some plum, raisin, dates, and dried apricot. Taste is a bit more filling, starts a little weak and thin but begins to gain malty weight with a nice toffeeish sweetness and finishes strongly with a nice mixing of dark fruits of plum, raisin, dates, and figs giving way to a little chewy caramel lingering finish which is super smooth and creamy. Nice finish on this. Theres a bit of a metallic twinge in the midway parts but is barely noticeable and appears mostly at the front of the tongue and the lips. Feel is close to medium with a light silken creamyness that floats through the palate with ease and the finish is quite nice with a light building of chewy sweetness. A soild dopplebock by any standards, good stuff.
