Overall a decent dopplebock by a good brewery, but it was a bit hot for me. Should maybe age another bottle for a bit.

Bottled 50cl. Courtesy of joss. It pours a mahogany beer with a nicely lasting beige head. Malt accentuated nose with hints of rasins, mothballs and candy sugar. Sweet. Malty vinous taste which is also fruity (apple) with hints of mothballs. Low bitterness. Pumpernickel sneaking in before a mediocre finish. Thanks a lot joss!

Dark ruby/brown pour. Thick, creamy off-white head settled a little too quickly. Malt aroma. Not much else in the aroma. Give me a few minutes to let it warm up a bit...Still malt, now slightly roasted. Meduim body. Lightly sweet malt flavor. Mouthfeel is pleasant, not much favor though. Dry finish. Tastes incomplete.

Bottle from Whole Foods. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Sweet, malty aroma with caramel and roast. Flavor is malty and sweet with dark fruit notes (plum, fig), caramel, alcohol, and slight hop bitterness. Smooth, fairly full palate with a little alcohol warmth. Overall a phenomenal example of the style. Spaghetti pairing was not great though.

Big, dark brown pour with tan filmy head. Caramelly aroma with notes of tobacco, toffee and roasted malts. Flavor is mostly roasted malt, toffee, caramel, some coffee notes, some fruit, a little weird finish. A hearty, nice mouthfeel. Good, but not great.

Dark ruby-red colour. Slightly smoked aroma. Flavours are smoked as well, with caramel and chocolate. Finishes sweet.

Bottled: pours a dark beechnut with a full taupe head that diminishes quickly. Full malty aroma with plenty of hazelnuts, milk chocolate and banana. Fairly thick mouth feel that is clean and full of flavour. Luscious chocolate, a hint of campfire smoke, wood and a plethora of nuts. A hint of cascade hops evident in the finish, though not much. Overall a beer I would drink very often.
