This dunkles appeared and gave off the same impression a glass of soda pop would have because of the light tinted brown and fizzy film of head. In the aroma, a mild dose of caramel malt and chocolate notes can be found. I would say the flavor is the same as the description I mentioned about the aroma, but it will become more diluted and thin. Still a sweet and soft dunkles to be had, although, I won’t be picking this up again. jcr (1190), Jasper, Indiana, USA

Strong aroma of sweet malts - ripe plums, raisins - and grain. The flavor is largely on the sweet side though there is some hop bitterness in the finish. The sweet malts taste of toffee and brown sugar. Medium body. Solid and drinkable doppel. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA

To the nose, aromas of sweet malts, caramel, and raisins noted. Sweet malts found in the flavor also with chocolate and caramel standing out. Medium to full, creamy body. Not overly sweet but very nice. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2008 Dark brown with the thinnest of white heads. Sweet, fruity malt aroma ... very much a dopplebock nose. Flavor is lightly sweet malt: dark, rich and maybe a tad earthy with some caramel and ripe fruit. Soft and subtle mouthfeel. Lightly smoked/roasted bittersweet finish. Nice. troyc (1175), Lubbock, Texas, USA

One-dimensional aroma of dark malts and toffee. Taste includes roasted malt, a touch of smoke, nut, maybe some light cocoa, and alcoholic warming towards the end. The beer is a little on the sweet side. Average mouthfeel and carbonation level. A decent beer, but somehow it left me wanting more. carruthm (1175), Seattle, Washington, USA
