| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 10, 2009 Bottle. Pours ruby with a large tanned head. Sweet malts and toffee dominate the nose. The flavour is sweet malt, caramel, toffee and dark fruit. There’s stickiness in the mouthfeel and also a light warmth from the alcohol with more sweet maltiness coming through in the finish. A classic doppelbock. ericandersnavy (1139), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 10, 2003 This was an interesting beer. Not what I was expecting, because it was a little light bodied for a duppelbock. This beer is a dark amber color; it pours a nice head that vanishes quickly. The aroma and taste if this Korbinian, is a malted caramel. If you see it at your store pick one up and give it a try. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 12, 2004 bottled: got this on recommendation from the waitress. didnt know what i was getting due to a heavy german accent. did understand this to be their best selling 'dark'. what i didnt understand is that it was a doppelbock. on taste alone i would of said....dunkels. mahogany color with a tan creamy head. nose is mostly malty sweet. same with in the mouth following through. some plum and raisin aftertones with sweet choc malt being the dominant man. tastes like a typical dunkels to me, but its a doppelbock. not big enough in my opinion for a doppelbock beer. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 5, 2006 Clear dark brown port under a collapsing medium light brown frothy head. Aromas pf dark caramel, smoky malt, some earthy notes, and a touch of floral hops. Medium/full bod, and a little sticky and resinous. Huge malt flavors of sweet caramel, roasted nuts, and molasses. Still, there is a nice balancing bitterness, although it still finishes a little sweet. A very good doppelback in the classic Bavarian style. It’s no Celebrator, but certainly holds its own. dolemike1 (1129), Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 26, 2002 Tried for the first time the other night and i had no idea what it was when i ordered it. Smoky and burnt flavor, intermixed with sweet malt. Quite excellent. Very appealing except the large amount of debris at the bottom of the bottle, which left me puzzled. Oh well, still good. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 13, 2008 This is not my favorite example of this style, but nonetheless is a very well made beer. Has a slight heaviness, almost syrupy on the palate. The aroma is wonderful, with almost a peaty smokiness. Chocolate and cinnamon clove spice dominate the flavor. I can imagine this is a wonderful food beer. ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 21, 2005 This brewery/university is, to me, an absolute treasure to the German people, and this one gives homage to it’s fine brewing history. Poured into a Weihenstephaner Weiss glass, the body glistened a brilliant deep ruby brown. Small effervescent bubbles raced to the top to form a dense, inch thick, sandy head, that stuck firmly to the glass all the way down. An initial musty, cobweb aroma preceded wafts of cocoa, cinnamon, sweet malt and a little caramel. Mouth feel was excellent, rich rounded flavours of sweet caramelised sugars, coffee grains and husky burnt malt, dominated the palate. Medium bodied, medium-light carbonation, extremely well-balanced with a pleasant warming, malt finish. Not in your face, like many Doppelbocks, but quaffable and well crafted.
