Malty aromas complement the smell of baking bread, with some citrus in the deep background. Alcohol up front, with a lively, but creamy, palate. Lots of light chocolate malts, coffee and dark rye bread. Banana, too. Dry finish. One of the best dopplebocks I’ve had. Arayaga2 (1001), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 3, 2008 Dark brown beer, clear character, 1 inch head, lasts 5 minutes. Smells like dark roasted malts. Tastes like dark wheat malt made with a lagering yeast. Full flavored, and pleasant density, and texture. A prime example of the style. Light malty finish. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 1, 2006 I only had this about 4 hours ago and I’m finding it hard to remember anything significant about it. Looks like dirty water. Has a nutty and sweet aroma. Flavor kind of reminds me of a Rochefort for some reason, nutty and dirt like. Not chocolatey like a lot of dopplebocks. So-so. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 15, 2006 gorgeous. mild opacity, nut brown toffee color. 1/2" head, dissipates nicely to a film. smells like a box of raisins. some beer smell too. pretty woody. a bit light bodied, and not terrifically malty. i’m actually very happy with this beer. it’s entirely dark fruit and apples and stuff without being super sweet or thick. Poured a dark brown with decent head at first but dissapated quickly(retention was still good) Fruity aroma possibly some banana. Carmel malt flavor but taste fell a little thin for my likings but still a good brew. Panzuriel (996), Westerville, Ohio, USA
