Pours a clouded ruby brown with basically no head that falls fast. Nose is malty and sweet smelling. Flavor is rich with a caramel character and a thick body of ingredients. Feel is smooth with a nice bubble on the tongue and a thicker liquid feel that is slightly silky. Definitely drinkable. Easily sessionable. Damn good.

Oddly refreshing for a doppelback. Tastes classically German, malty and roasty. One of the better doppels that I have tried.

Pours a deep cola brown, a little bit reddish when held to the light, with half an inch or more of tan foam. Minimal head retention and lacing. Strong and sweet aroma - caramel malt, maplenut, some chocolate, and an earthy fruitiness. Bold flavor up front, very malty and both sweet and dry. Chocolate, brown sugar, and earthy maple dominate, with some subtle dried fruit in there as well. Finishes less sweet than the initial flavor, and leaves an oaky, nutty dry aftertaste. Now there’s sweet caramel and cheap chocolate soda in the aftertaste. Complex and flavorful. Not quite medium body, carbonation on the light side. With all those flavors going on, I find myself just a little bit disappointed that the flavor quits a bit early.

(Bottle). Sweet caramel malt aroma. Reddish amber body, small creamy tan head. Sweet fruity and caramel malt flavor. A bit too sweet. Surprisingly light finish.

Bottle at Farina in Albuquerque. Aroma is toasted malt; flavor is light raisin peel, the same roast and light caramel. Not as rich as Blockhead, but certainly a great example of the style.

Beautiful Mahogany color with a huge off-white head. The aroma was sweet...clove...bananas...caramel...malty sweetness...tobacco. The flavor was similar to the aroma with a little alcohol added. Extremely enjoyable doppelbock.
