Clear chestnut color with a taller ecru head. Mild aromas of malt and caramel with a hint of dark fruit. Lighter feel, slightly coating. Flavors of caramel coated fruit, including raisins and hint of figs. Lacks a bit in the depth department. Sure thought I rated this before.

Light roasted and vegetable aroma but not annoying. Dark brown color, light brown head, fair lace. Light roasted, light sweet, dark caramel flavor. Short finish. Very nice dunkles starkbier but a doppelbock???

Dark mahogany color, chestnut brown, nice thick head, tan head and decent lacing. Nose is rich with molasses and jaggery, nice plum and wheat esters. The flavor is balanced, notes of cocoa and hot chocolate, sweet dates and fig, cake, nice creamy finish. Savory or sweet, take your pick.

Bottle from Super Saver. Pours deep coppery rubish with 2-finger khaki head. Great look. The aroma is of fermenting figs, brown sugar, hops, caramel malt. The taste is caramel malty, with notes of brown sugar, cinnamon, hops, and slight rauch. Very crisp and clean, but the complexity falls off as it warms. This went great with buttered corn-on-the-cob smothered in spray butter and Old Bay!

Clear amber beer with a small off-white head. Malty aroma with toffee, brown sugar and molasses. Dry but rich malty flavour, tasty and drinkable for the style.

Dark brown with sweet vanilla and dates in aroma. Excellent licorice malt with a nice hop final. Syrupy/creamy mouthfell, a little oily with restrained alcohol vapours. Nice.

Bottle (production number 1165). Head is initially large, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium orange-brown, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, caramel, nuts), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of brown sugar and overripe banana. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, creamy/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Never been a big fan of this, probably the only Weihenstephaner beer I’d say that about. Kinda syrupy/sticky, dull.
