Huge lasting head, glossy molasses-colored body. Very sweet malty-earthy nose, rasins & caramel & ginger & chocolate. Bit too simple in the flavor department, but I love a very sweet, full-bodies doppel with lots of chocolate at the end and a big finish. Lovely, great for a Wisconsin winter.

pretty sever rotten fruit aroma. prety soft and sweet with lots of chocolate bullets. i agree with austinpowers that it tastes a little more like belgian beer than german thanks to some icing sugar sweetness and plenty of caramelised pear. very smooth and drinkable but lacking that certain something to make it really interesting

Bottle. Aroma of sweet dark malt and something veg or herb. Very dark brown, but clear, color. A very frothy tan head. At least medium bodied, something herbal, and a lot of sweet, unroasted, dark malt. Arguably creamy. Carbonation is quite moderate. As the beer reduces, the glass displays a bit of lacing. I find nothing but dark sweetish malt, except for interesting flavor aspects. Maybe vanilla. Maybe not. The finish is not bitter, and after the malt melts away, the mouth is left with a light herbal impression.

Poured with a nice reddish, muddy brown. Candy corn and some smoke dominate the aroma. Flavor is bubblegum, wheat and, maybe, wood? Interesting, but it is still fairly light in flavor and body for a dopplebock. I would get this again.

Yeast, malt, dark fruit, hickory and marzipan in the aroma. Clear, very dark brown but not opaque. Thin off-white head that recedes to cover. Mildly sweet bock flavour with an earthy roastiness and light raisin flavour. Pleasant lasting aftertaste. Mildly astringent. High carbonation. I had higher hopes for this one. It was very good, just not fantastic. Enjoyed with MartinT and Rastacouere. Bottle.

Bottle: Deep reddish brown hue with small frothy off-white head and good lace. The aroma has notes of wheat and pumpernickel bread, caramlized malts, toffee, grassy and noble hops, and a hint of allspice. The taste starts malty and chewy sweet with a ripe plum and orange zest background. Some mild bitters appear but a smoky mocha finish is lasting. The feel is lively and sort of silky, but not heavy in body. A solid beer which you can enjoy anytime of year. I do wish it was a tad more fruity and more spicy. Quaffable indeed.

Bottle. High light brown creamy and lasting head. Clear and beautiful ruby body. Sweet caramel cocoa aroma. Feels very good in the mouth, round and smooth. Flavor of sweet caramel cocoa and nuts with a bit of hops bitterness but not much carbonation. Long sweet aftertaste. Pleasant surprise.
