Commercial Description:
A double bock beer that has what it takes. Not just for lovers of strong beer. With a malty aroma and great taste, our Korbinian is a true beer speciality. It goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as wild roasts and fowl.

Pours dark dark brown, very malty aroma, just what you would expect from a doppelbock. Flavor is extremely smooth, nothing overpowering about this at all, and surprisingly easy to drink. This is one of my favorite doppelbocks so far.

Darn good beer. Big, rich and balanced as only the Germans can do. Lusciously creamy beer full of malt but never overly syrupy or sweet. Glowing magenta brown with a frothy head and moderate lacing. Sweet and malty aroma with subtle hops. Huge malt-centric complexity. Oak, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, nutty grain and soft yeasty dough. Unobtrusively bitter finish. The beer coats the mouth pleasantly but never stickily, and the feel is velvet smooth. I dont know about the bread in a mug cliche, but it is certainly a chewy glass of delicious malt.

Pint bottle- poured out a beautiful mahogany brown-amber with a dark khaki head. Aroma was malty with a coffee back. Taste was excellent, toasty malt and nuts with a sweet finish. Palate was good for a Doppelbock, very smooth. Would be great with a hearty beef dinner. Liked it a lot.

Bottle. This is a very brown beer - dark, but not totally opaque. The foamy tan head is very nice. Nose is very caramelly, malty, a little bready, and a honey/molasses note, too. Sweet like dates/figs. I even notice a little tobacco note. Flavor is stacked - big and malty, yet with a very nice depth to it. More fruity notes, a little chocolate, and a nice little touch of noble hops. Really a very nice German brew. I could see this going really well with some rouladen and potato dumplings. Even better, cook the rouladen in the beer... I’ll have to try that sometime. In any case, this one’s a real pleasure to drink.

Bottle poured into Weihenstephan glass. Pours black/brown with ruby transparency and decent foamy beige head. Nose is sweet caramel and toffee malt. Taste is very smooth and sweet buttery caramel with sweet toffee tones and some faint plum and raisin hints. Excellent flavor and mouthfeel. I’m liking this style more and more, and this is one of the best in it.

Has roasted and caramel malt smell. Pours a dark amber color that appears clear with a rich eighth inch biege head. Too dark to see anything. Smooth roasted caramel taste throughout not burnt. Moderate to full bodied and resiny not syrupy or watery with lively soft carbonation. Very smooth, with a hint of being chewy, a session Doppelbock that is not to sweet.

Appearance: Dark brown Aroma: Molasses, caramel, coffee Flavor: Caramel, Palate: Rich, full-mouth feel without excessive heaviness. Comment: I didn’t detect a lot of complexity, though that may have been as I had this near the end of the evening. Still, it is delicious.
